About the book
Chinese Christianity has been embedded in the unfolding of global mission from the moment of its birth. This volume gathers the work of nearly twenty scholars—from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Israel, Canada, and the United States—who met in July 2025 at Fuller Theological Seminary for an international symposium on “Chinese Christianity, Its Centennial Mission, and Chinese Bible Translation.”
Taking the modern development of Chinese Christianity as its backdrop and the Great Commission of the third millennium as its horizon, the book examines the indispensable role of Bible translation in mission. Its essays give particular attention to the Holy Bible Recovery Version (RcV), read alongside the Chinese Union Version (CUV) and other contemporary Chinese versions, seeking to fill a scholarly gap left by a quarter-century of relative neglect. The fifteen chapters fall into three parts.
